Throwing / Making a clay pottery Candlestick on the wheel. These types of pot always tend to go a bit out of control by the nature of the pot being tall and solid. This one was a bit of a trial to see if I could get three ridges on the stem. This uses a different technique to other pots as you're just squeezing the clay into shape instead of making a wall in the pot.

Ingleton Pottery http://www.ingletonpottery.co.uk After numerous requests I decided to have a go at making / throwing a Tea pot. I did the whole process in one video so you won't have to watch several different ones for each different bit, like throwing the body, pulling handles making the spout trimming , making the lid etc etc. Believe it or not this is actually my first attempt at throwing a tea pot as my dad does all that kind of stuff. I'm not the best at making handles but this didn't turn out too badly. Clay throwing wheel pottery making demo. Anyway for all of you who have clicked to see the video thanks for watching. Dan. Throwing a slightly larger bowl than usual on the wheel. The same techniques as for smaller bowls, just throw a slightly flared out cylinder with the clay and then stretch out from the inside to form the required bowl shape
While on a village safari we see a potter using a manual (self spun) pottery's wheel.
You can use a ceiling fan motor and a plastic bucket to make a pretty decent pottery wheel for under $50. Also, check out my newest video on how to make an apple masher and cider press with a ceiling fan motor and a few plastic buckets! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hbWIxffLbE
Throwing a plate on the pottery wheel can seem a bit daunting the first time you try it. Making a plate on the pottery wheel really isn't that hard; there are just a couple of details that have to be done right to make the process a lot easier. Follow the plate throwing steps in this video to make it easier. Here is what most people struggle with at first when trying to throw a plate out of clay: - Spreading the clay out across the bat correctly - Getting the thickness of the clay right - Leaving enough clay for a rim and creating a rim without it collapsing - Cutting the plate off the wheel - Drying the plate correctly by flipping it over on another bat so the bottom can dry to leather hard - Trimming the plate on the wheel - Drying it upside down to prevent cracking More Pottery St...
In this video, I show how to throw a chip and dip platter from one piece of clay. The platter/bowl form is thrown thinly, to avoid the need for trimming when leatherhard. Compression of the bottom and the connection where the bowl and platter meet are imperative for a good crack-free form. In this video, I use Standard 153, as this is the stoneware I use with my kids at school. Normally, in my videos which I shoot at home, I use Laguna Bmix with grog for my personal pottery. This video explores the use of a flame torch to throw exaggerated shapes on the potters wheel. Flaming the pot at various stages stiffens the clay just enough to stretch and form the pot into shapes that are difficult to produce without making the piece with thick walled sections. This piece will be trimmed later when leather hard and a foot rim will be turned into the base to complete the piece. How teapots are made on a throwing wheel. Pottery made from Stoneware clay. Ronald Pothier is a potter from Quebec. Watch as he transforms a hunk of clay into a finished teapot. Ronald Pothier is a potter having started all the way back in 1973 at only the age 13! Today, he works out of his studio in Hemmingford, Quebec where he produces beautiful ceramic pieces of art. Bowls, plates, cups, vases, teapots and more, they are strong and practical for everyday use in your kitchen. Watch as Ronald throws two different teapot designs with such confidence and ease. He makes it look easy but throwing clay on a wheel is quite the workout while also requiring a fine level of finesse. Later on, Ronald explains how he fires, decorates and glazes his pottery and then we see the final result of all t...

What Does It Mean To Be Centered? (See also the woodturning video at https://youtu.be/IQ9RiS0-AWE) Pottery by Marysia Galbraith: http://mgalbraith.people.ua.edu and http://mgalbraith.people.ua.edu/creative-activity.html Being centered means feeling relaxed. It also means a kind of seeing, sometimes called mindful seeing, that is based on appreciating the uniqueness of the present moment. Because seeing and feeling are closely connected, mindful seeing is the key ingredient in most relaxation techniques. Repeating a mantra or paying attention to your breathing brings you into the present moment, and in this simple way relaxes you. It is easy to think of centering practices such as meditation as something that can be done only at the cost of withdrawing from our day-to-day life. In...

Hey people of Youtube! This time I tried my hand at the potter’s wheel with the pottery class. My teacher was a deaf-mute trainer and he was laughing at my face when he saw my first clay pot collapse. What a phenomenal experience! But I finally made it. One night as I lay dreaming of pleasant days gone by
My mind was bent on rambling to Ireland I did fly
I stepped on a vision and I followed with the wind,
When at last I came to anchor at the cross of Spancill Hill.
Then on the 23rd of June the day before the fair,
When Ireland's sons and daughters and friends assembled there.
The young, the old, the brave and the bold came their duty to fulfill
At the Parish Church in Clooney a mile from Spancill Hill.
I went to see my neighbours, to hear what they might say,
The old ones were all dead and gone, and the young ones turning grey
I met the tailor Quigley, he's as bold as ever still,
Sure he used to make my britches when I lived in Spancil Hill.
I paid a flying visit to my first and only love,
She's as fair as any lily and gentle as a dove
She threw her arms around me, saying "Johnny, I love you still"
Ah she's Ned, the farmer's daughter, the pride of Spancil Hill
I dreamt I held and kissed her as in the days of yore
"Oh Johnny you're only joking, as many's the time before"
The cock he crew in the morning, he crew both loud and shrill,
